Darkest before the Dawn
Aug. 5th, 2008 08:42 pmBeing the cheapskate I am, I usually do not front the money to go see movies in the expensive theatre.
atomic_goo persuaded me to go just this once and see The Dark Knight.
O_O That film is absolutely beautiful. I was reminded so strongly of Watchmen by Alan Moore in the way it addresses social evils through costumed ones. And raises questions about society and the heroes that protect it; do heroes protect it from outside evils or from itself? How are heroes held in the public view; revered when needed, torn apart or cast aside when not. How are heroes to be held accountable? “Who watches the Watchmen?”
In the end, I believe it is these core elements that make Dark Knight so alluring. There are so many levels to the movie, and Batman v. Joker is only the first one, and the flimsiest.
I’m not going into depth about certain elements in case any of you have not seen it yet. If anybody would like to discuss, message me or something.
