Amazing things have happened all at once, dudes. I just found out that one of my favourite webcomics Lackadaisy Cats has a fandom. I also figured out why exactly I adore Mordecai Heller, our favourite dapper and ruthless sociopath. Because he is the spitting image of Arthur from Inception. Also, the author has confirmed him as being asexual, which I am SUPER EXCITED ABOUT.

Mordecai Heller drawn as a human, looking like freaking Arthur. Especially when he's fighting with Viktor Vasko. And the author wonders why we ship them.

Because they are terrible at being normal people, and it is amazing.

Also, check out Lackadaisy's Sketchbook page for more hilarity.

True story, Softer World. I'm actually a Humanist, but my parents (especially my mother. My dad is an engineer and doesn't put much stock in superstition) think I'm still Hindu. Oops?

Seriously funny stuff. Read the comic here.

I just found the webcomic Tripping Over You on [livejournal.com profile] the_slash_pile rec list, and it's brilliant. The characters have wonderful dry sarcastic senses of humour, and the art style and lettering are so unique! I wholeheartedly recommend it!

Married to the Sea, a hilarious comic writing over the text of old and older advertisements and illustrations.

Since I'm working on The Cornish Manuscripts short story of Notes of an Antiquary, I was pretty excited to find this webcomic short by EM Carroll called His Face All Red, which really embodies a lot of the slow languid scary stories that James (and in homage to him, my story) really focused on.

Unfortunately, EM Carroll's comic website is down right now, but here is the artist's blog in the meantime.

Ahahaha, YES. I am one of the people in the GeeksnNerds portion. (Sorry, couldn't find a close enough symbol for intersection. The fact that I tried to use this symbol and am now apologising for incorrect syntax probably cements this)

Happle Tea
Web-comic I've been following for a few weeks now courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] hilandahalf : great art, terrific geeky storylines, just beautiful. Reminds me a bit of Dresden Codak (art-wise) without all the mind-fuckery

Webcomic of the day; Scary-Go-Round
Great British web-comic that got discontinued a while ago but still has its head above water with such descendants as Bad Machinery.

Potential gimmick for Muse's Kuro and his strange restaurant musician side-job?

Today's featured comic is "Hark, A Vagrant!", a Canadian historical comic strip that makes me laugh and remember good times in history class.

Ahaha, oh, Miyamoto-dono, I defer to your superior skill...

How we all rope hapless n00bs into our anime realm of evil as done by Questionable Content

Because I'm still working on a showcase piece for white asparagus, my creme brulee post, the audiobook I'm making for Penelope, and my second piece for [livejournal.com profile] smallfandomfest . (I can't get the story to MOVE, damn it! I just need some filler! Shoot it in the head!)
And because I also like webcomics.

Dinosaur Comics

And a comic I was considering for a showcase post: Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal.

Advanced apologies for people who worship SMBC. I know you guys fight wars over this stuff.

So I liked SMBC in the beginning. Many of the comics are smart and funny and examine aspects of popular/nerd culture in a great way.

Then maybe the guy went through a breakup or something, because many of the comics later on carried the same punchline. The guy tells the girl she is ugly and/or she has to lose weight. I really thought that was in bad taste, and not because I have vested interest. That kind of punchline works maybe once, and I didn't consider it the funniest punchline anyway.

So today I show up for my internship and no one is there. The door is locked and the lights are off. This has happened before with people running late, so I wait in the conference room in the hall as usual, and yet no one comes. I am the first one to come in at 11AM- by the time the next intern comes in at 1PM there is still no sign. Other businesses in the building are becoming sympathetic and telling us we can use their water coolers. Very kind. The other two come, and we stay till 3PM until at last leaving in disgust. No one knows anything about the office being closed. We don't know what the hell is going on.

I was doing legitimate intern work on my laptop, but after a while, I got tired. So I fixed my GIMP program and found a random picture to experiment on.

I desaturated, did a sobel edge detect, and stripped this thing down to its sharpest black and whites using Curves.

I then put a white background behind it and hand colored it with the airbrush tool.

Then I decided what the hell and just Andy Warhol-ed it.

(small blurry version)

Then all the interns said frak this shit, and we went for Ben & Jerry's.

And today's a special red letter day, so now I'm going to get a heat pack and lay here in misery for a good while. My life for the next couple of hours:

Larger Andy Warholed jasmine flowers background pic will be available on Photobucket upon request.
