Okay, so I just moved into my new dorm at UVa. First I thought it was kind of small, but it looks larger every time i look around. (optical illusion? drugs in the water? Alice in Wonderland Syndrome?)
I just came back from ITC training. ITC is a student organisation that helps people with computer problems. It's kind of creepy being in the dorm by myself. There's another ITC girl in my building, but apparently she won't be back from training till 7. Strange, cause I thought it ended at 5 after dinner... Am I missing something or is she some kind of secret agent?
I ended up bringing a lot of books. It's great how packing for college resembles Maslov's pyramid of needs.
First you pack important things like clothes, soap, and school supplies. Then you start getting a little uppity with the instant coffee and blanket with the dinosaur skeletons. I thought I wasn't going to cave and pack 'trivial' stuff that would distract me from work.
And today found myself frantically shoving Hamlet, Hitchhiker's Guide, all my Juvenile Orions, and Monty Python into a small inconspicuous drawstring bag.
And hey, on my day off, an intelligent guy said I should go around to all my classes and find out which room numbers they are. This was a great thoughtful suggestion. But then I remembered my dorm's beds are raised about 3 ft. off the ground, so I said something along the lines of "Hey, I'm going to throw my extra sheets over the beds and make a FORT!! It can have phase cannons!"
I think I just got added as a friend on facebook...either that, or I got barred.
