Work in Progress: The Opium Den

Got this from 186 of Holic. (spoilers, slightly? Those of you who haven't caught up. Actually, why do I bother? The only one who'll be seeing this is Mog anyway...)

Work in progress. Trying to see if I can do more with the chair possibly, or Watanuki's kimono. Might just highlight Mokona more. Suggestions? The curtains gave me hell after I decided I was going to do it the way I wanted and coloured them in instead of just colouring in the lines. Anywayyy...

Random poem I wrote for JO's Muse, which I apparently modified to serenade my computer with back in high school when it would Blue Screen of Death me:

Laptop: you could replace the Mac

HP and Fujitsu

I would not mind: I’d ask if you’d

Supplant Lenovo too.

 

Would you fetch my IP, so I

Could surf the net all night?

I’d stretch my hands to warm them in

Your blessed dawning light.

 

But, no, I took you for the sun!

A mild mistake to make.

For you illuminate the seas

That sunder in your wake.

 

Your screen could corbuncles not match

Nor stags your swiftness best;

For you are as the frost-bit clouds

That rise above the rest.

 

Your keyboard speaks sweet chatterings

Like brooks ‘cross orchards lie;

But none can cipher language sprung

You Can't Make This Stuff Up

I have quite possibly the best story in the entire world to tell you.

Preamble:

The anime club meets in Olsson Building Rm 120 for anime showings every Saturday.
Every Saturday at the end of showings, our vice president Honya draws yuri on the chalkboard. Honya is a spectacular artist, so the drawings are actually very pretty. Very shoujo. They are an anime club tradition and are called Honya's Chalkboard Yuri.

Particularly, he draws the yuri right behind the projector screen and then pulls the projector screen down, so that whatever poor custodian or maybe even Monday morning class that uses the room gets a...surprise, shall we say? No one knows anime club uses the room, so I really don't think anyone knows where the chalkboard yuri comes from.

So fast forward. It's Sunday. We have a computer science test review session in Olsson 120.

A student raised his hand after the powerpoint presentation and said he didn't understand a certain piece of code we were expected to know on the test. The teacher says, sure, let me draw it up.

He jerks the projector screen, which goes up in a slow doomed rise.

This is almost covering the entire middle part of the chalkboard:



There is a moment of absolute silence.

Then the entire room, almost 200 people, explodes.

The teacher is in the front. He looks at the picture with consideration. "Holy smokes."

Then goes down.

He has his tomato red face covered with his hands and he's crouched down in almost a fetal position with his face pressed against his knees. He's laughing so hard it looks like he's sobbing.

Then he's gotten a hold of himself sufficiently to shoot back up, whip out his phone, and take a picture.

The class explodes again.

Members of the class who are in anime club are quietly stroking out behind their laptop lids.

Finally, after long minutes when everyone's relatively calmed down, the teacher tries to break the awkwardness with, "Is that Haruhi Suzumiya?"

What. The. Hell.

The anime club gets over the shock and starts shouting back at him, thus revealiing our own guilt in this situation:
"It is!" 
"It isn't!"

Then someone in the peanut gallery asks, "Who's the other girl?"

"I don't know!"
"It's Asogi Rin!"
"No it isn't, it's Lady Une!"
okay, so that was me. I'm not as well versed in yuri series as perhaps I should be. I will do better in the future! m(_ _)m

The teacher finally picks up the eraser. "I don't want to erase the SOS club's work, but I have to move on with class."

"No!!" many voices (guys) in the crowd shout out.

"Oh come on. I've got a picture. I'll put it on your tests."

The anime club is high fiving between the seats. One lone member is in the back quietly taking pictures of everyone's reactions.

O_O So now my first test will officially have yuri on it.

Suddenly, I'm totally looking forward to taking my exam tomorrow.
