I will admit as a someone who has been brought up in the field of more classical singing for upwards of twelve years, I initially turned up my nose at Joanna Newsom's style, which I was first exposed to through The Milk-Eyed Mender's "Peach, Plum, Pear." I ADORED the harp and appreciated the other instruments but couldn't get over the voice. I tried watching her live to see how she was singing and cringed. I thought someone was having a laugh somewhere. I put the song away. But then a few weeks later, I found it.
And then I listened to it again. And again. And again. I opened up grooveshark and am in the process of listening to ALL of her music ever.

I couldn't keep the night from coming in )
