Jan. 23rd, 2013 10:34 pmSitting on my newly assembled couch with a slice of warm Maine blueberry pie and a beer (my birthday dinner). I swear, buying cheap from Target was not worth this. Their customer support is extremely rude and gives contradictory statements when you try to straighten out your order, they ar incredibly atronising (doesn't help that my voice timbre makes me sound like I'm about 8 years old). And this couch had the stupidest fucking assembly instructions ever.

Yes, you're reading that correctly. You have to flip the couch upside down, lay it flat, and then hover it somehow so that the TOP of that little side panel fits into the BOTTOM of the side of the couch. Why can we just flip the couch right side up and screw it on, you say? Because you have to open up the bottom of the couch to find the screw holes. Oy.
I ended up folding the couch in half into an L and then resting the top of the L on my (also freshly assembled) side table. Then I screwed on the panel at a slant. Don't even get me started on the stupid allen wrench...
Anyway, I suppose the couch looks nice, and I got it shipped for free instead of the exorbitant IKEA shipping price. And I felt all engineer-like while building it. So...I mean, I suppose it was an experience? Just not one I would have cared for on my birthday. Of course, it was fantastically cold outside, so it's probably just as well.
