Original character meme
Feb. 6th, 2011 02:17 amChoose twelve of your original characters, in any particular order. Then, answer the questions that follow, but DON'T LOOK AT THE QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU PICK THE CHARACTERS!
Of course I'm not expecting anyone to remember all of these characters. Also, I copied my list from Word so I could go back and forth, and it messed up the formatting ARRG I should have known, damn you XML!
1) Charles East (Legerdemain)
2) Steven Sweeney (Steven Sweeney)
3) 3) Dr. Matthias Harsh (Notes of an Antiquary)
4) 4) Alexander Elliot (Gunpowder Plots)
5) 5) Jonathan Cosway (Notes of an Antiquary)
6) 6) Henry (Legerdemain)
7) 7) Margaret (Legerdemain)
8) 8) Perceval Fletcher (Legerdemain)
9) 9) Geoffrey Hall (Legerdemain/Gundpowder Plots)
10) 10) Bernice (Steven Sweeney)
11) 11) Rokossovsky (Steven Sweeney)
12) 12) Tom the Hook
1. Who would make a better college professor, 6 or 11? (Henry, Rokossovsky)
I think Rokossovsky could have been a professor in another life. He's very intelligent, charismatic, and loves to show off. :) Something in the sciences, maybe. Henry, oh no. That would be a disaster.
2. Do you think #2 is hot? How hot? (Steven Sweeney)
Eh, maybe I'd say he's vaguely handsome, but he's definitely not my type. Then again, I'm not a slinky Russian *cough*
3. 12 sends 8 on a mission. What is it, and does it succeed? (Tom the Hook, Fletcher)
Tom the Hook would probably draft Fletcher into getting him some ingredient that his kitchen is mysteriously bereft of. Fletcher is pretty responsible, so it would go well, I think. And Tom would give him delicious free soup.
4. What is or would be 9's favorite book? (Geoffrey Hall)
The Dangerous Book for Boys. Or The Anarchist's Cookbook. Oh, Hall.
5. Would it make more sense for 2 to swear fealty to 6, or the other way around? (Steven Sweeney, Henry)
I think Henry would actually think well of Steven and help him out, you know- be one of his street contacts or informants. And Steven would think Henry was 'funny-headed but a decent fella.'
6. For whatever reason, 5 is looking for a roommate. Should 5 share a studio apartment with 9 or with 10? (Jonathan Cosway, Geoffrey Hall, Bernice)
Bernice, definitely. She's a lot more level-headed and practical, whereas Hall would be ridiculously annoying and try to take apart Cosway's rifles to see how they worked. I can see Jonathan and Bernice hanging out at the shooting range.
7. 2, 7, and 12 have dinner together. Where do they go, and what do they discuss? (Steven Sweeney, Margaret, Tom the Hook)
They go to Tom's cafe, of course. Steven and Tom discuss the fights or how to punch people out. Margaret annoys both of them in endearing ways and ends up stealing their desserts and leaving them with the cheque.
.
8. 3 challenges 10 to a duel. What happens? (Matthias Harsh, Bernice)
Seriously, the most passive guy in the world challenges the nicest woman in the world to a duel? This is the most boring duel ever. Harsh takes Bernice out for ice cream, and they resolve their differences over rum raisin.
9. If 1 stole 8's most precious possession, how would 8 get it back? (Charles East, Perceval Fletcher)
The fact that these two ended up in the same question is not a coincidence.
SEDUCTION, PERCY, DO IT.
In all seriousness, Fletcher would probably bide his time until he got an opportunity to get into Charles's flat again and filch it without him noticing.
10. Suggest a title for a story in which 7 and 12 both attain what they most desire. (Margaret, Tom the Hook)
Margaret would be childishly charming, and Tom the Hook would be reluctantly charmed. She would convince Henry to skip going to Tom's cafe some days whenever he was feeling shout-y, and Tom would pay her in apples and ties.
11. What kind of plot device would you use if you wanted 4 and 1 to work together? (Charles East, Alexander Elliot)
Oh, too easy. They were classmates and part of the same Mechanics club. East would rebuild that beautiful motor from Gunpowder Plots chapter one, and Elliot would integrate it with his boat. Together they would win the Model Boat Race forever.
12. If 7 visited you for the weekend, how would you get along? (Margaret)
Oh ohh, I would be wrapped around her finger. What Margaret wants, Margaret gets.
13. If you could command 3 to perform any one task or service for you, what would it be? (Matthias Harsh)
Read to me!
14. Does anyone on your friends list write or draw anything regarding 11? (Rokossovsky)
Noo, but admittedly my stuff isn't too popular. I photoshopped two posters for my Steven Sweeney poster and put him in the background. HEARTS, my Russian anti-hero.
15. If 2 had to choose sides between 4 and 5, which would it be? (Steven Sweeney, Alexander Elliot, Jonathan Cosway)
I think Steven would find Elliot nice but annoying when he's on about his boats. Otherwise a decent guy. But Sweeney would probably have the whole badass fighter bro-code with Jonathan.
16. What might 10 shout while charging into battle? (Bernice)
17. If you chose a song to represent 8, which song would you choose? (Perceval Fletcher)
Ooh, that's hard. Something classy. Maybe something by Dario Marianelli? (Dude, I have the PERFECT one picked out for Matthias Harsh- "A Postcard to Henry Purcell," all the way) Or something ridiculously cheesy like "It's Witchcraft" although daaamn, that's Rokossovsky. Other characters, stop stealing Fletcher's songs!
18. 1, 6, and 12 are having dim sum at a Chinese restaurant. There is only one scallion pancake left, and they all reach for it at the same time. Who gets to eat it? (Charles East, Henry, Tom the Hook)
Tom the Hook would get it out of sheer unconscious intimidation. Charles never gets the last scallion pancake. Never.
19. What might be a good pick-up line for 2 to use on 10? (Steven Sweeney, Bernice)
Wahahaha. Oh, this is too good. I don't know, something like, "Hey, Bea, get your coat- we're getting milkshakes on me, kid." She would probably take "you shoot straighter than most of the cops down at the precinct" as a terrific compliment. We have a winner.
20. What would 5 most likely be arrested for? (Jonathan Cosway)
Hunting down some supernatural creature and then getting caught during the clean-up and accidentally getting charged with murder.
21. What is 6's secret? (Henry)
Ooh, come on. Why did you have to pick the ONLY character (besides Tom the Hook) without a secret? Anyway, it would have given away major plot points, so I guess I'm grateful. I guess Henry's secret is pretty obvious. He's actually in love with Margaret but doesn't think she would want him, so he plays it off like it's casual.
22. If 11 and 9 were racing to a destination, who would get there first? (Geoffrey Hall, Rokossovsky
Oh, now THIS is interesting! Hall would probably build some kind of kick-ass steampunk racecar. Rokossovsky would silently sabotage it and then secretly steal the design.
Or Hall would rush to the destination without seeing a speck of Rokossovsky anywhere, but mysteriously, Rokossovsky would be at the finish line when he got there.
23. If you had to walk home through a bad neighborhood late at night, would you feel safer in the company of 7 or 8? (Margaret, Perceval Fletcher)
They're both pretty tough. I think I could rely on Fletcher to be the big brother protector, so I'm going to say Fletcher. I think Margaret would expect I knew how to take care of myself. Sure, she would help me if I got into trouble, but she wouldn't actively protect me.
24. 1 and 9 reluctantly team up to save the world from the threat posed by 4's sinister secret organization. 11 volunteers to help them, but it is later discovered that he is actually a spy for 4. Meanwhile, 4 has kidnapped 12 in an attempt to force their surrender. Following the wise advice of 5, they seek out 3, who gives them what they need to complete their quest. What title would you give this fic?
What the HELL, question? I'm following dibbler's example.
Charles East and Geoffrey Hall reluctantly team up to save the world from the threat posed by Alexander Elliot's sinister secret organization. Rokossovsky volunteers to help them, but it is later discovered that he is actually a spy for Elliot. Meanwhile, Elliot has kidnapped Tom the Hook in an attempt to force their surrender. Following the wise advice of Jonathan Cosway, they seek out Matthias Harsh, who gives them what they need to complete their quest. What title would you give this fic?
This fits more than you will ever know EVER until I finish all these stories.
Charles and Hall were pretty much inseparable in college, so I think they would make a good team. Elliot would have some kind of evil shipwright guild. Tom the Hook is un-kidnappable. That is not even a word, but it is true. Tom the Hook would beat up Elliot.
Cosway would definitely recommend Harsh, who would probably give them some kind of advice on the weaknesses of current ship structures.
No, none of this. The title of an action crack fic would be Tom the Hook Beats up Elliot, East and Hall Blow Up the World.
Alternately for a strangely appropriate romantic comedy, Dr. Harsh Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Jonathan Cosway. Awwwwwww. HEARTS IN MY EYES. (This is actually what Notes of an Antiquary is all about. Just add And Kill Homicidal Undead Things at the end of that sentence, and that's my fic. My fic is reduced to a single pithy line. How pathetic)
