I've seen this in the media, and now I see it on LJ's fandoms too. Why the hell are you upping the rating because you're writing slash? If I see another post ON A SLASH COMM that says 'Warning: slash,' I will despair. Yeah, I get it. You don't want people who dislike slash to be surprised halfway through the story. But slash isn't a warning, it is a pairing. Put it under Pairings!

We've all seen this in the movies; even though I don't like those kinds of movies, I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry was apparently threatened with a higher rating if the two main characters had kissed. Really? ACTUALLY? Because yeah, that totally shows that all love is equal.

Everywhere is like "PG: heterosexuals doing the horizontal tango" and "R: gays exchanging meaningful glances across the room oh god cover the children's eyes and spare the pregnant women."

I am so sick of double standards.

I know what you mean. I don't kick up the rating for things being male/male. I do it because anything NOT PG or higher gets kicked off FFN at the drop of a hat. ~.~ *Had this happen many times* so ALL my fics are PG or higher, regardless. I DO lable "Warning:Slash" but that's just to avoid the "OMG IT DIDN'T SAY SLASH" comments that make me wanna scream. (Even if they KNOW the pairing listed is male/male they'll still scram that it didn't say SLASH or YAOI or something. ~.~)

But seriously, kick the blasted rating up for the CONTENT like SEX and VIOLENCE. Not for the PAIRING type. -__-
