In honor of All Hallow's Eve, I'm inviting trick-or-treaters to my 'door'. Comment "trick-or-treat" to this post and you will get a surprise in your 'bag'. Treats can be anything that strikes my fancy. The more "houses" to visit the more fun it'll be, so go ahead, open your journal and help spread the fun!
My treat is: funny pictures, snippets of fic, delicious recipes.
My trick is: a surprise, otherwise it wouldn't be a trick, would it?

Date: 2011-10-27 03:01 am (UTC)This story is based on The Statement of Randolf Carter by H.P Lovecraft.
"For the last time," Arthur snapped and smacked his sputtering flashlight. He could have sworn he had put fresh batteries in it before they entered the graveyard. "There is no such thing as cthulhu."
"But this isn't reality," Yusuf pointed out. Like any true Lovecraft fan, he harboured deep and abiding sentiments of both fascination and horror for anything to do with what he called eldritch abominations. "Everything's up to the dreamer."
"Then it's a good thing I'm the dreamer here, isn't it?" Arthur said. Yusuf and Ariadne didn't look convinced. "Look, all we have to do is open up the family sepulchre and take whatever's inside."
"You know that's usually a body, right?" Ariadne said. "This is a fucking creepy job. Who hired us for this?"
"He wishes to remain anonymous, according to Cobb," Arthur said.
The sepulchre was in the most overgrown section of the graveyard. It was made of smooth black stone and decorated here and there with weeping figures.
"Fucking creepy," Ariadne repeated.
"Help me with the lid," Arthur said and put the flashlight between his teeth. Yusuf and Ariadne reluctantly followed him and helped him slide back the stone lid. It was covered with a black slime that stung when they touched it. Yusuf shuddered and wiped his hands on his jeans.
Ariadne pointed her flashlight in and revealed a flight of stairs going down. "Uh, who's going to be the first?"
But then suddenly something came rushing out of the sepulchre, something unearthly and horrible that seemed to take up the entire sky. It boomed out a low ancient terrible laugh that rattled their bones.
"No! You'll never take us alive!" Yusuf shouted and shot Ariadne first and then himself.
The monster abruptly shrunk into Eames. He and Arthur exchanged bewildered looks and studied Yusuf and Ariadne's prone bodies on the ground.
Eames scratched his head. "Darling, next time instead of trick or treat, let's just go with the treat."
"I honestly thought they would take it better," Arthur said. "And I notice he didn't think I was worth a mercy killing."
"Always practical, our Yusuf," Eames said and slung an arm around Arthur's shoulders. "He probably thought you could take care of yourself."
"Yeah, right." Arthur didn't shrug off his arm. "By the way, that was a good evil laugh."
Eames frowned. "What laugh?"
Behind them, something in the the sepulchre rumbled.
