Okay, so it's been said that this is the end of the Batman movies, and since Bane is in it, a lot of people are speculating that they will go with the whole "The Man Who Broke the Bat" storyline, and Bane will break Batman's spine and leave him a paraplegic. How much would I pay to see Tom Hardy beat up Christian Bale? Fucking millions.
In the story, Batman then passes on the mantle to Azrael, who is a ruthless sonovabitch (and a computer science grad student by day. Coincidence?) that disconnects Bane from the Venom and lets him go into severe withdrawal and then viciously injures him. Who else do I want to play Azrael but Joseph Gordon-Levitt? Because I think I waited through the entirety of Inception for Eames and Arthur to bare-knuckles brawl, and this is my only chance to get my fix.
But then in the storyline, Bane goes on the straight and narrow after getting off the Venom and doing his time, and he ends up siding with Batman for a while to clean up Gotham gangs. How much do I want to see JGL and THard fight crime together as superheroes and have amazing sexual tension? SO MUCH, BE STILL MY HEART.
And you know Alfred would be totally unfazed, just like, "Oh, whatever, business as usual. At least I don't have to chase any skanks out of Wayne Manor in the morning."
I really really want Catwoman to be awesome too, because I think Anne Hathaway can bring it, and we need to wipe Catwoman's recent terrible rep clean and make her kickass again. I am really looking forward to what she can do with Selina Kyle. She might be THE character I'm looking at when reading the film's reviews, because I desperately want amazing female superheroes to happen RIGHT NOW. This is part of my constant background agenda to get Batgirl: Year One made into a film, because it would be WONDERFUL to have this amazing female character who is a hacker and is a black-belt and is constantly underestimated because she's short, except for oh look, she hacked into the Justice League to make a point and impressed Black Canary enough to invite her to fight crime together. Cue splash page of Black Canary and Batgirl on a motorcycle being badass!
I think it could tie in well, because Barbera Gordon is supposed to be Jim Gordon's daughter, and with the age of his children in The Dark Knight, they could make the film far enough into the future to disconnect it from Nolan's Batman trilogy while still keeping it in the same verse.
Okay, end nerd rant.
