Huh?

Perhaps I've been a bit slow on the uptake, but what changes are so terrible in the new LJ? I saw some people in my flist were very angry and decided to switch over to Dreamwidth, but I don't see a lot of things different. Perhaps I haven't navigated all the aspects of my journal in a while, so I'm mystified. 

I went to lj_releases to see what was had been updated, and it looked like margins and comments were a big thing as well as Preview. I was upset about this last one because LJ is a bitch to format when it comes to posting stories, and my Preview option has saved me a lot of headache in the past. But I look down at my page, and my Preview button is still there. My subject lines on my comments are still there.

And what's this with margins? Apparently they were done away with, and I do agree that expanding the reading space is actually deleterious to reading because we all like the 'book' format of wide margins and a relatively small block of text. However, I don't see that with my journal. Another issue is having to wait for all the icons to load before choosing one, but I don't seem to have a problem with that either. Is it because I only have 15?

Are the updates only to the Paid accounts, or has my LJ not been overhauled yet? I'm very confused here.

EDIT: Okay, I tried to comment on LJ Releases and know exactly what everyone is talking about now in terms of comments and icons. What the FRAK. Subject lines break up the annoying reply thread hierarchy that happens in long discussions. One thing could be a Gmail approach where the threads automatically break into a new thread (with a new subject line) after a certain number of reply comments.

It's really only if you disable the customized comments page, as I have so people can read my stories without eyestrain. With the new system we don't even have the titles to let us know what's happening in collapsed comments, no previews, and no html. /gnashes teeth. The only good thing is being able to preview the icons, but really that's just extra frills that will break any old computers (and slow everything down if you're on a phone.)

All the new stuff they've pushed through is excess frills, and taking away the more practical stuff. =.=;;;

When this went down I was unaware what people were talking about because I only ever frequent one RP comm on here and like nothing else? And their comment pages didn't change because of the layout there? .__. My plurk exploded with rage though while I was like "whut?"

But now on my personal journal, where I have custom comment pages disabled, I see what their talking about. *STARES* This is so weird...
