foolish_m0rtalStarted Jekyll but never finished, and then my Netflix free trial ran out. Registered again with a different address for the winter holiday, so I've been watching since I finished Netflix's stash of new Who, and Sherlock S2E2 isn't out for four more days. (Yes, I'm counting). I just finished Jekyll episode 2, and the show just keeps getting better, though Katherine begins this episode by carrying The Idiot Ball, which really annoyed me. I was actually saying, "No, don't cry, imbecile. NO, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" in an angry whisper at my laptop screen for fifteen minutes. Not a personal highlight.
Moreover, fake American accents are hilarious. Is this what British people feel when Americans put on accents? Most probsy. But really, Benjamin's accent? Shit, man. Just...shit. It's this really weird loud Southern-Cajun amalgam that's really uncomfortable.
My favourite quotes from episode 2 (some light spoilers):
Jekyll: "You can feel your own blood?"
Hyde: "You can't do that?"
Benjamin: "He's got twins. He's got like a kid, and a buffer kid. He's got a margin for error kid."
Hyde: "They picked the snotty one. That shows consideration."
(Hyde singing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight.") Benjamin: "That's a ballsy song choice."
Benjamin: "He sent a note with a dead lion. How much more fucking serious can you get?"
Jekyll: "You've seen good cop bad cop?" (points to his own face) "This is the movie!"
Hyde: "I love children! Snack-sized people always leave you wanting more."
EDIT: Jekyll's women annoy the hell out of me. They're all badass, but then suddenly they get all wimpy and spineless for the sake of plot. The only consistently awesome women are the two private detectives. Claire is especially prone to these random changes. She's a really confident fun-loving woman that doesn't take crap from anyone, but then suddenly she's all "Tooomm!" and *cry cry* and passive. Really? REALLY?
