So now all of my Downton Abbey friends have come out of the woodwork.
- The UVa in me loves the Thomas Jefferson reference with the swivel chair. And the Dowager is like, "SWIVEL CHAIRS THE HELL IS THIS BULLSHIT?" Love it.
- Bates bringing Anna a tray with food and flowers when she's sick. So precious. Soooo precious.
- Thomas is still a douchebag. And still hot. My feelings, what are they even doing right now? I heard William punches him later on, so I'm definitely staying tuned for that.
- Branson the Irish chauffeur is totally awesome.
- Mrs. Hughes and Joe Burns are like the cute couple that never got together. There's no bitterness between them now that they're older, and their scenes were wonderful. Again, showing the human side of the august stiff-lipped staff.
- This is in general a very romantic episode overall with Hughes/Burns, Mary/Matthew, and Anna/Bates, which contrasts with the No-Get-Out-Of-There! of Daisy/Thomas.
- The Dowager one-ups Isobel in the hospital and then laughing out the door.
- Mrs. Patmore calling Thomas "not a ladies man" and "a troubled soul." Is that what those kids called it in those days?
- Gwen and Sybil being class-rebel besties, with Anna helping out.
- Willam playing a genuine mopey piano. And Mrs. Hughes being nice to him. Then William tells her he doesn't know how the house would run without her, which seems nice till you realise that means she won't go and marry Joe Burns. My heart cried large angsty tears. So many tears.
- And then Sybil walks in wearing Harem pants to a pan of everyone's faces. And Branson LOLing in the window. Priceless.
