A bunch of us who watch Sherlock in our college and are part of the local Sherlockians group on Facebook decided to get together and watch the series 2 finale, since we would probably be a danger to ourselves alone. So we decided to watch at the LGBT Resource Centre (Just because a lot of us are connected to it. I don't know how this happened.) with plans to go back to someone's place to drink and cry later. We had it all planned: the kind of ports the RC television had, the wires and laptop we would need.

Unfortunately, we didn't anticipate that the actual building would be locked. We tried going to the library to watch. I missed a step on the Darkened Staircase that everyone complains about but no one ever fixes with proper lighting. I landed on my ankle and tried to make it to the library without passing out. I am glad I had a buddy with me, but I am definitely sure the man at the front desk thought I was on drugs from the way I was sweating and shaking. Then I ran off to faint on the couch, but then I was fine. (It's my unlucky ankle, and this happens to it a LOT.) Unfortunately, the library was closing in ten minutes. We decided that our university was aceist. :D

By that time, everyone else showed up, and a nice member who had graduated a few years before offered up his flat, which gave us the added bonus of vodka lemonades and the opportunity to meet his two kittens, who really helped us make it through Reichenbach. Hugging a kitten and crying? Check check. On the way to the house, we were able to discuss our obsession with fandoms at length. One of my friends says she is grateful that I created the Sherlockians group because it makes her feel less alone. I wholeheartedly agree. It was WEIRD to actually meet the people that I interact with on Sherlockians. Like, they're actual people...

We finally got everything set up, and I got my handkerchief out. Everything was fine. We were emotional and sitting on the edge of our seats, it was fine. The video kept lagging and buffering at random intervals, which actually helped us out, because it gave us time to reflect, gather our pile of feelings, and eat some snacks.

Now I go into helpless fanning:

There was an ad on the site that didn't come up for about 40 minutes. So right when Sally Donovan is sarcastic-suspiciously complimenting Sherlock and saying, "That was amazing. Incredible," a voice came out of nowhere and said, "CONGRATULATIONS, YOU'VE WON," and we were like lolwhut.

We all missed the "Here, take my hand." "Now people will talk," exchange because all twelve of us burst into applause when Sherlock and John reached out to hold hands. All of us. It was beautiful.

Moriarty. Just. Moriarty. Throughout the entire episode. A-MA-ZING. I am referring you to every single Reichenbach Moriarty post on Tumblr. I am so torn that Moriarty's dead, because he was the most amazing fairytale villain.

We still don't understand a few things about the episode, like what the IOU message was supposed to be (a bluff to keep Sherlock distracted?) and how Moriarty got the girl to scream when she saw Sherlock (we think Sherlock mask, but then we were tickled at the thought of a Sherlock mask!)

I think they could have edited out Riley the reporter. Maybe because I usually edit out rather than add in, and I try to take out characters that will unnecessarily divert the focus to unimportant places, but they could have even shown Moriarty on television as an actor, and then had Sherlock and John go confront him. I would have liked this, since it would have been more dynamic and given Moriarty more screentime. (Guess how much I love Moriarty? Go on, guess)

Speaking of things I loved:

"More-iar tea?"
"Don't mind if I do."

Oh Sherlock. Putting the kettle on for Moriarty, but never for John or Mrs. Hudson. Also, LESTRADE making the list of friends that Sherlock considers important.

Also, MOLLY. MOLLY being amazing. I really want more of her, because I loved how she says she notices Sherlock's emotions because he never notices her. Possibly my favourite lines in this episode:

Molly to Sherlock, about John: "You look sad when you think he's not looking."
Sherlock: "You notice."
Molly: "I don't count."

*exploding hearts* OH MOLLY.  And how Sherlock says later on that she does matter. :3

And then, and then! The rooftop, everything about it. And Sherlock crying. Sherlock. Staring down at John. Reaching out with his hand and John's reaching back. And Sherlock's. Just. Crying. Just...I couldn't handle it. Because while he knows he is going to live, it will be 2-3 years (at least in the original) till he'll get to come back. I wonder if the crowd that tried to pull John away from Sherlock's body was part of his underground network, and there were actually Bart + homeless people in on his 'magic trick.'

John crying in front of Sherlock's gravestone. Now forever known as graveyard!John. Oh my little heart.

If you want a hilarious recap of Reichenbach to dull the pain, I recommend this Tumblr post. It made everything better.

As I mentioned, many of the people on the Facebook on-campus Sherlockian group are also connected with the LGBT Resource Centre for reasons unknown. So after the showing when we were sitting around eating sweets and emoting everywhere, we just lapsed into reminiscing about old LGBT times at the university, and my one token straight friend that I'd brought along was incredibly amused.

During the discussion, I mentioned that I thought the member of the important family with Irene Adler in the beginning of "Belgravia" was Kate Middleton, and how I wasn't able to focus on the rest of the episode because I was too busy shipping them. Middler is now our group's headcanon: we don't care if it's libel.

All in all, wonderful showing. I'm glad we were able to organise an event, and I'm sure we'll be meeting again sometime this year to keep each other alive and sane enough for Sherlock Series 3 next year.

I blame you for my current obsession with Sherlock. Amazing show! And I'm glad you were able to enjoy it with friends! I wish I could join you guys - sounds like it was a lot of fun. ^^

I am not reading the parts behind the cut, because I still have to see it, but have to pop in to say that I'm with you on thinking they meant Kate, and can totally see Middler.

But remember, Mycroft said Irene had performed her services for both parties in the royal couple, so I spent a good part of the episode picturing Kate/William/Irene :D
