The tenth round of the smallfandomfest just finished, and I already need to get started on finishing and polishing up my entry for the Small Fandom Bang. :D I've really loved participating in these fests in the past, and I'm already excited for the next one in May! Arg, I don't know any. The last story in the Starting a Life series is the only kid fic I know.

I totally agree. I am actually a bit ashamed because nowadays even if someone recommends good fic on Fanfiction.net, I am extremely wary to read it.

Archive of Our Own is very searchable, more so than LJ. I think you really have to be dedicated in the fandom communities on LJ. There is much better quality fic here, but you can't search for a specific thing like 'kid fic BWoC' unless you post a request and someone answers.
