Has anyone on my flist done any work modding or otherwise organising any of the help_{cause} fests like help_japan and help_haiti? Or do you know anyone who has? I'm trying to put together a similar fundraising fest on a smaller scale, and I would love to talk to someone who's done these kind of fundraising fests before.
Just like the previous fests, this would be an offer and bid fundraiser where people offer to write fic, draw art, etc, and people bid on these offers. All proceeds would go to Archive of Our Own to support their need for a growing network and hardware infrastructure to support the large amounts of membership and traffic they've been having difficulties with. I think doing a fic, art, podfic, whatever fest would be the perfect way to show AO3 our love and support them.
I'm also looking for people to help me put together this fest, so let me know if you or someone else would be willing to put in some work in the planning stages. I've contacted AO3 about this idea, and one of the members of their fundraising team said that while they can't officially endorse third-party fundraising events, they would like to be kept in the loop about this in case this gets off the ground.
