Predictions for Warehouse 13 S4E1
Jul. 8th, 2012 11:36 pmWarehouse 13 is coming back for Season 4 on July 23 after a truly nerve wracking finale. Here are some of my thoughts on themes/plot lines that may come up in the new episode.
1) HG
I know everyone desperately wants HG to come back because she and Myka are in love forever and ever. I am behind this. I am SOO behind this. I also got mildly dizzy by the she's evil/she's not back and forth from S2 and S3 and also her bronzing/debronzing/death/revival whatevs. And YES, that can definitely be her thing because it was Daniel Jackson's thing too, and no one cared. But I think they should stop seesawing with characters to toy with our emotions, because at some point, we are going to lose emotional interest in the character. (The Firefly Effect, essentially) This seems more like what they were going for, and I do not like.
So I say, either bring her back for goodand make an honest woman out of Myka (or let her stay in some capacity like the hologram) or send her off for good. Doing otherwise without the humour of Daniel Jackson and other Lazarus-like characters could destroy the character. Speaking of which...
2) Steve Jinks
In one of the interviews they did with Aaron Ashmore, it seems like they had a whole backstory on Jinks that they were excited to reveal, but I'm not sure if he's going to be a casualty of war and written out (or come back in a Simba I Live Through You cameo for one episode, which is the same thing) or if they're really going to bring him back. I liked his brother dynamic with Claudia, who otherwise interacts with people far older than her. I think they're good for each other, especially since Joshua is MIA. (I don't know what it is I subconsciously love about obscure pairings, but I've been writing oodles of Jinks/Joshua fic lately)
One theory I have for him is that he will be the Warehouse's new caretaker. It would be useful to have one that could tell whether or not someone was lying, and he doesn't seem to have or mention any existing biological family or romantic partners. That could be one way of keeping him alive (I'm guessing they're bringing the Warehouse back? Although it would be cool to have a team with no Warehouse, and they have to put together another one). I would say that would be HG's job, since she knows the Warehouse flawlessly, but something tells me the Regents won't let her have that kind of power.
3) The pocket watch.
I was looking up anything about famous pocket watches and found this:
A famous train wreck on the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway in Kipton, Ohio on April 19, 1891 occurred because one of the engineers' watches had stopped for four minutes. The railroad officials commissioned Webb C. Ball as their Chief Time Inspector, in order to establish precision standards and a reliable timepiece inspection system for Railroad chronometers. This led to the adoption in 1893 of stringent standards for pocket watches used in railroading.
So maybe there's something about a 'four minutes to avert disaster' thing, perhaps with stopping time? It would be neat if they did this in a Groundhog Day episode with several variations. (They bring back Mrs. Frederick, Jinks, or HG with varying results, etc)
4) Claudia goes rogue
Claudia's run away from the Warehouse or antagonised it a few times (as Mr. Knock Knock in Season 1, when accused of betraying it at the beginning of Season 2), and I think she could do it again. She's furious enough with the Regents. She might leave and do her own thing for a while. Some of the promos had her in really dark clothes (standard I've Gone to the Dark Side stuff), so I wonder if she'll track down other people who have used the metronome to strong arm information out of them. She does seem to think the Regents are dragging their feet and see the Warehouse agents as disposable pawns. (I remember Myka echoing this in the Lewis Carroll's mirror episode)
What are some of your predictions about Season 4? I can't wait till July 23, guys. I really can't.

If it weren't for the great Myka/HG relationship, I might have skipped out of Season 2 because of all the back and forth they did with HG.
Ooooh, rebellion!Claudia would be kind of cool. I see the Regents as the bureaucratic red tape that Pete and Myka have probably dealt with and put up with albeit reluctantly. I think they used to be very removed from the agents, which is why I think it was genius to make one of their go-betweens Pete's mom, since now she has a forced vested interest in them.
