Have you ever noticed that peeling paint from an old dilapidated door or peeling dried glue from your hands is really REALLY entertaining and extremely addictive?

Actually, I have. It's kinda cool how with the glue-y hands the skin imprints and texture are shown.

I KNOWZ! The more hardcore thing to do is dip the finger in slightly molten wax and peel it off to see the ridges and everything, but that's too quick.
Peeling off glue is so deliciously languid.
P.S. I like your icon

It's the best with rubber cement if you can take the smell.

Yeah. Is it rubber cement that's supposed to take bubble gum from hair? Or is it nail polish remover? I read this random 1920s book where someone used perfume to clean nail polish from their fingernails. I think it was called...The Melendy Family, by...I think it's..Elizabeth Enright? Wow, it was so long ago.

...This far down in Florida, the thing you try to do is STOP the door from peeling--if it's not humidity, it's mold. *groan* Seriously, I say "Miami" and people think "South Beach" I say I'm a blond from Miami and I'm suddenly a model or something. (WTF?) If I say I'm a psychotic blond fanfiction writer from miami who likes to attack peeling doors then they just think I'm crazy.
I'm crazy. ^_^

our house is pretty old and the former owners didn't do the greatest job in keeping it in shape, so our policy is, enjoy peeling the paint off the doors now, cause you'll be painting them tomorrow.

Oh, doors are fine...houses are made of concrete blocks down here though (hurricane safety and all) so when you try to paint the house (as I did over the christmas break)You spend hours chipping at parts that somehow aren't moldy so you can get at the parts that are and wash them with bleach before you put on the primer even. (blarg.)

You guys have a contest for the largest chip of paint, or not? ^_^;;

y-your doors sound pernicious...happy Miami living! (taht sounds like a song)
I have a contest with myself about longest paint chip (my parents would killorz me if they ever found out I was the one who peeled the paint off the doors)
The standing record is about a foot long paint chip. (the longer they peel, the quicker they fall apart...)

I had like a foot square patch (dead serious) that my parents were GLAD I peeled off the house.
You should move here, that said. All the paint you'd ever want to peel in mostly tropical yellow shades that make me sick.

my paint is this disgusting buttery cream colour. Like yellow butter vomit. I don't know what the former owners were thinking; the colour dulls the walls really badly. It makes you depressed.
Don't even get me started on that garishly revolting flower wallpaper they put up in the guest bathroom...

my room color is this disgusting dull yellow. it's peeling--because everything does eventually in Miami.

Color's nice and all, but when you have BRIGHT ORANGE/YELLOW HOUSES on every street, you get tired of it after a while.

ah. I wonder why people paint their houses such bright colours in the "Sunshine State." (hope I haven't stereotyped you too horribly there...)
On my street, the houses all look the same because of the building codes. I think my house is one of the more original ones, actually. (probably because the owner basically built a lot of it)
It has this sunken in tiled floor at the front door and you have to step up to get into the house itself. It seriously looks like a Japanese house. It's quite convenient for us, because we're Asians too, and we're all about the 'leaving the footwear at the door' thing.

Yeah, just one big giant excuse to put palm trees everywhere too...I know. I wish someone woud realize there's no point though. We're in the suburbs, not on some crazy person's beach hosting a party with half naked people with dreds and carribean accents of various forms

*smiles* Well, all our houses look rather the same--just these tiny one-story concrete things painted absurd colors by people who want to move around and sell because they want to make money...we've lost and gained neighbors rather rapidly the past few years. Most of the people around us are hispanic. They're all about um...well we have an all-spanish rap station. Let's just put it that way. Everyone who isn't me who lives in Miami seems to like listening to loud rap music. 68% of people here are hispanic, and most of those are bilingual. Asians I think are about 1% or less. *sigh* Kind of a shame in my opinion...
Most of said asians can be found in Avalon on tuesdays geeking out and playing Dungeons and Dragons with a bunch of geeky white kids and the occasional experimenting black guy.

I've always wanted to play Dungeons and Dragons; I feel like I could really like that game. But there's no one in my town who plays...
