Dood, just found cnet128's xxxHolic translations through TV Tropes of all places, and now some of the text that seems confusing makes SO MUCH MORE SENSE.

Especially parts like Watanuki getting pissed off about Doumeki saying, "Strike" and Watanuki talking to Doumeki while they're drinking sake in one of the later 180's chapters.

So when Watanuki thinks of the cat saying it, he thinks of playing a shamisen.

When Doumeki says it, he thinks of beating him up.
