Pretty Damn Fine & a Summer in Tokyo
May. 1st, 2010 11:06 amWell, I fell asleep yesterday while doing my work and slept for about 15 hours. I guess I shouldn't have pulled so many all nighters this week- I was getting the hallucinations again, and that doesn't usually happen for a while if I have some sort of canned caffeine.
Of course I dreamt about dinosaurs chasing me as I usually do when I'm dead tired. This one might become an interesting one shot though, probably in the spirit of crack and weird short stories. *shrug*
I've been going through and deleting unimportant tags that don't have many entries attached to them and changing tags to make them sound more interesting than they really are. :)
So here's the deal:
if nothing else comes up for this summer, I'm going to be living in Tokyo for three months doing research in software engineering (UML, Java, object-oriented technology) with one of the faculty members are Shibaura Institute of Technology.
I know a little bit of Japanese, but we would also be taking a Japanese class before we go. (I can teach myself hiragana and katakana in a couple of days, no big). But the thing I'm concerned about is fitting in over there. Anybody have any tips on Tokyo?
Even something as simple as 'would my lazy engineering clothes (skirts/jeans, a t-shirt, and converse) be respectable over there?" I'm probably taking a lot of my light Indian and American clothes.
Meh. Maybe I should hit up Yahoo!Answers. If anything, they'll be good for a laugh. The most pertinent resource I've found till now is here, but I don't want everything coming from one place.
