Podfic tentative idea?

Right! New idea, what with it being after Christmas, and I didn't really do anything except post that ridiculous showcase on Christmas ghost stories.

I'm sort of nervous about just going OUT there. I'm sure you guys understand.

So! If you'd like, I can do a podfic of one of your stories or a story that you particularly like. ^__^

Sounds like something fun I can do for you guys! (or tortuous if it turns out I'm a terrible reader, I suppose)

1) I'll do one story per commenter initially, or if there aren't too many people I can do two
2) If it's a multi-chapter story, I'll do the first chapter unless there's a particular chapter you want
3) I'm okay with profanity, but nothing really explicit. If it is absolutely your favourite story, I might just skip over that bit, sorry! (I'm a terrible reader already)
4) You guys just keep being awesome

So I guess I'll take requests! I'll try to find a good storage site I can post this stuff! Yes!

OH MY GOD, WHY are there so many sounds in my house that keep screwing up the recording. Oh, I'm doing fine and then whoop! my computer goes berserk and then whoop! the heater goes on forever

If you have audio editing software, I suggest just cutting out the part that was bad and splicing it with another, so you don't have to do it all over again.

If you don't have audio editing software, I suggest you go with Audacity, since it's free and you can't beat free. Also (according to my dad who uses it more than I do) you might be able to reduce the background noise in the part you've already recorded.

Yeah, I use Audacity for everything. It's really annoying cutting things out because the ambient noise doesn't fit together sometimes, and that can be really awkward to splice in. But Audacity does have a way to drop background noise, although that can mess with the noise you want to keep.

I've been reading up on tips from [info]podfic_tips

It's actually been really helpful so far. The only thing I can't help is background noise, which is on a timer, and my mike, which is sort of dinky although admittedly not as bad as my laptop's internal mike.

Yay for useful comms! I don't use Audacity that often, so I don't really know much about it.

In any case, the only site I can think of that does audio hosting, and doesn't have any viruses and whatnot, is tumblr, but that wouldn't allow people to download the file. ._.
